John Paston III is knighted by King Henry VII for his part in the victory at the Battle of Stoke.

Following the Paston family's struggles during the previous decades, his defence of Caister Castle and injury fighting under the earl of Oxford's standard at Barnet in 1471, John would now rise to high position in the earl's service. In April 1500 King Henry summoned his 'trusty and welbeloved knight' to be among those to welcome Catherine of Aragon to the country, prior to her short-lived marriage to his oldest son and heir, Prince Arthur.
