While trying to shelter in the Rufiji Delta, on 11th July 1915 the German light cruiser Königsberg comes under attack from British monitors Mersey and Severn, their big guns guided by spotter planes flying over the target.

Men of the 5th South African Infantry Regiment come under artillery and machine gun fire as they advance, their own artillery mistakenly targeting a line of fake entrenchments higher up the hill than the real German positions.
